NoVA Girls Ice Hockey Pickup League
Administered by Haymarket Iceplex in Haymarket, VA, we are dedicated to fostering the sport of ice hockey among girls 6th thru 9th grades (and hopefully even thru 12th grade), especially those who are not rostered on an all-girls team. Join a community where every player's potential is celebrated regardless of skill or experience level.

This league is starting summer of 2026 and will hopefully be offered every year during the Spring and Summer seasons! Players can join purchasing a group of games (sessions) or drop-ins only. Whether drop-in or prepay, registration required.

Join the League
Beginners to AA players from 6+ hockey clubs have already joined! Keep in mind that ONLY prepaid players are guaranteed to play each game which are capped at 30 players max. Dropins are allowed only to fill any vacant spots. Whether drop-in or pre-pay, both require registration! We use BenchApp (similar to TeamSnap or CrossBar) for attendance management.

5/25/26 - Â Summer session #2 now available for prepaid signups! Every Sunday during the month of August 2026 from 5:10-6:30PM at Haymarket Iceplex. All 30 prepaid spots for session #1 has been taken. Over 50+ signups including 7 goalies!

5/20/26 - Given how many players have signed up for the first summer session, we are now considering adding a 2nd summer session of 5 games during the month of August every Sunday. Stay tuned!

5/9/26 - Summer ice hockey camp for girls 10-14 years old has been scheduled! July 13-17 from 8:30AM - 3PM at the Haymarket Iceplex! Coach Kara Given will be running this camp. Click to learn more and register!

5/7/26 - Summer session #1 of 5 games have been scheduled! Every Sunday from 5:10 - 6:30PM starting June 28 until July 26 at the Haymarket Iceplex South Rink! It will be only $75 to register for all 5 games ($15 per game) or $25 as dropin. Information on how to pre-pay for these games to reserve your spot has already been emailed out to everybody! If you have not received anything, let us know!

5/6/26 - We have had over 35+ signups (including 5 goalies) since the league was publicly announced last week! Players from 6+ different hockey clubs are represented including Lady Patriots, Loudoun Knights, Nova Ice Dogs, Piedmont Predators, Reston Raiders, St. James, as well as few others even further away! We are in the process of finding dates/times to hold a summer pickup session! Stay tuned... That said, we still want more players to join the league in order to accomodate drop-ins! Share our program with teammates and others who might be interested!

Our mission is to grow and retain girls in ice hockey by removing the barriers that often lead players to leave the sport in their early teens. We provide an all-girls team environment for those who prefer not to play on coed teams, offering a competitive experience without full-contact checking—one that emphasizes development, confidence, and enjoyment. Unlike traditional all-girls club programs that primarily serve elite AA players, we are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for girls of ALL skill levels to continue playing, improving, and thriving in the sport.
